DLC for the Week of December 1st

Nevermind

Holy crap… we’re in the home stretch of 2009! Even though Harmonix has (unofficially) reached their goal of 1,000 songs in Rock Band by the end of 2009, by the looks of some of the tracks for next week, they’re not letting up. Here’s what’s in store for us next week.

Xbox 360, PS3, Wii:

  • Nirvana – “Come As You Are (Live from MTV Unplugged)”*
  • Nirvana – “Lithium (Live at Reading)”
  • Nirvana – “Smells Like Teen Spirit”
  • Night Ranger – “(You Can Still) Rock in America”*
  • Night Ranger – “Don’t Tell Me You Love Me”*
  • Night Ranger – “You’re Gonna Hear It From Me”*

* Denotes tracks that are Family Friendly and capable of being played in Lego Rock Band.

Nirvana’s “Smells Like Teen Spirit” Coming to Rock Band

Smells Like Teen Spirit

Still a rumor for now, but looks like an eagle-eyed forum poster at RockBand.com was able to snag a picture from a Rock Band promo on TV that mentioned Nirvana’s genre-defining hit “Smells Like Teen Spirit.” We do now that there are some Nirvana tracks coming our way, so I think this one has got some weight to it. No dates on when to expect the track, but it should be before the end of the year.

DLC Tease: Queen, Petty, Nirvana, Pantera

Queen

A few weeks ago, Rock Band DLC rocketed past the 800 mark, and today at Gamescom in Germany, Alex Rigopulos, CEO and cofounder of Harmonix, announced that DLC from Queen, Nirvana, Tom Petty, Elton John, Iggy Pop, The White Stripes, Pantera, Talking Heads, Korn, The Raconteurs and more will be among the artists coming to Rock Band in the future.  He also mentioned that Harmonix-authored DLC alone (not counting RBN tracks) will hit the 1,000 point by end of 2009!

If my math is right (and I’m an accountant by trade so I’m hoping it is), that means that each week, we should have an average of about 10 DLC tracks released to reach 1,000.  I’m not sure about you, but this announcement makes me a happy little fella.
