Square Enix’s Vocalist Contest for Gun Loco

While this is not exactly Rock Band related, I know that we have a lot of creative, talented and geeky people that frequent this site. So, I wanted to pass along some information about a new contest for vocalists and aspiring singers. Square Enix is on the hunt for a featured vocalist for the title track of Gun Loco, which is a third-person sprinting shooter scheduled for release sometime in 2011 on the Xbox 360.
In order to enter and receive additional details regarding the contest, you will have to become a member on the Square Enix site.
The contest is supposed to run from September 9 to October 4. During that time you can download a mp3 for the song along with the lyric sheet, record your entry in either audio and/or video format, and then save your submission to the site. The best part about this contest is that according to the media advisory, people are encouraged to creatively interpret the song! I know we have a lot of people that would be awesome for this so don’t be shy and give the contest a try.

This game looks completely ridiculous! Let us know if you submit something and feel free to link it in the comments section. Good luck!
RBN Playtester Contest
UPDATE: The contest will stop taking submissions on September 10, 2010!
Hey guys and girls, the members of the Creator’s website are always trying to come up with ways to interest others to join the team. One of the most in demand positions on the site is the playtester. We never seem to have enough testers, so this competition is going to open the doors to give everyone an opportunity to experience playtesting and join the community.
The Contest:
The contest is simple; just watch the videos of a sample song (see below) and perform a playtest just like you would on the Creators site. The difference of course being that in a real playtest you would be able to actually play the game, but this is the closest we can do for now.
Check out the full details after the break.

20 Hour Energizer Rock Band NYC Marathon Now Live!
The event starts at 11:oo AM Eastern. Check out Jimmy Twinkle and the BAD playing Rock Band for 20 hours straight from the MTV store in New York City here.
They may not have sold out Madison Square Garden or have a contract with a major record label, but on Nov. 13 at 11 a.m., four young Rock Band™ players from Grand Rapids, Mich., will know what it feels like to be rock stars when they perform a 20-hour Rock Band concert at the MTV store in Times Square. The performance will kick-off the Energizer “Advance into Overdrive” Battle of the Bands, the longest online battle in Rock Band history.
The four musicians, also known as Jimmy Twinkle and the BAD, were recently named America’s favorite Rock Band band by Facebook users across the country. Not only will the Michigan band get the chance to perform in Times Square, they will receive rock-star treatment throughout their visit including luxury ground transportation, a hotel suite and dinner at one of New York’s hottest restaurants.
“We are just four average guys from Grand Rapids, so to be treated like rock stars is absolutely a dream come true,” said Jameson, lead singer of Jimmy Twinkle and the BAD. “We are grateful to our fans for helping us get this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. We cannot wait to rock out Times Square.”
More than 115 bands competed for the chance to play at the kick-off event. Interested Rock Band bands had to create a band profile within the Energizer Rock Band “Advance into Overdrive” Facebook application and had two weeks to populate their page and gain fans. At the end, Jimmy Twinkle and the BAD took first place for having the most fans and the most creative, interactive and entertaining content.
Check out a preview of the band below.
