Green Day: Rock Band Coming June 1st for $59.99?

There’s been no official word out of Harmonix about the official release day for Green Day: Rock Band, but video game retailer Gamestop may have spilled the beans on when we can expect this on our next gen consoles.  Right now, Gamestop is listing Green Day: Rock Band releasing on Tuesday, June 1st.  I know Gamestop has inadvertently done this before, but sometimes they’re aren’t always right.  This would make sense, however.  It would be the perfect time for the game to come out, with all kids being home from school for the summer (which is arguably their target demo for this game).  Gamestop is also listing the price at $59.99 for the Xbox 360 and PS3, and $49.99 for the Wii.

Does any of this info (particularly the price) change your purchasing decisions?

I really wouldn’t trust either date or price in this case, but if that’s the price… no deal. Unless it contains like 60+ songs AND transfer to RB2 is free.

  • Paseana says:

I’m probably going to get the game regardless of price point. If Harmonix is serious about releasing two games in 2010, one of ‘em has to be out no later than July 1. So June 1 seems plausible to me.

  • SpyMan says:

They usually put placeholder dates when games don’t have an official release date, this probably isn’t true.

Almost definitely a place holder, but at $60, even with 50 tracks, they are shooting themselves in the foot. It’s not worth that any but the most die hard Green Day fans.

I’ve always expected a $60 price so it doesn’t bother me at all. Assuming it has 45 tracks like the Beatles and Lego games that’s still $90 worth of DLC and on top of that we get a custom career mode, vocal harmonies, and 1000 more achievement gamerscore for Rock Band titles. I’ll gladly pay $60 for a 45 song track pack from any band that I particularly like, and Green Day is definitely one of them. God I hope Homecoming and Jesus of Suburbia make the cut.

    “they’re aren’t” lol

If they shot themselves in the foot with this, then they also shot themselves in the foot with Beatles: Rock Band.

I’ll be buying it. Whatever the suggested retail price is, I will just wait until Amazon has it for 20% lower than retail, and I will pick it up. That’s just how I roll.
