Rock Band 3 Canadian Gamestop Pre-Order DLC Promotion
How does it feel… to treat me like you do, Gamestop? Looks like Gamestop will be having another pre-order promo with Rock Band 3. On the Canadian Gamestop page for Rock Band 3, there was a little tidbit at the bottom. Pre-order from them, and you’ll receive a voucher to download three songs:
- Talking Heads – Burning Down the House
- Deftones – My Own Summer
- New Order – Blue Monday
Oh, and before anyone freaks out about the price, that’s in Canadian dollars, which is what they normally pay for new retail games. Crazy Canucks!

That’s nice and everything, BUT none of the Gamestops around open at midnight for the Rock Band games (at least not for 2 or Beatles). So it will probably be Wal Mart for me.
Seems a bit odd in my opinion. I mean, free DLC is always, always great, but it seems weird that three songs have already been designated as DLC for months down the line. I’d assume they’ll have harmonies/Pro mode implemented for RB3, but why not either put them in the game or release as free DLC for everyone?
It would make sense if it was previously release DLC (like GD:RB did with its pre-orders, with the previously released 21CB DLC), but for unannounced, unreleased DLC to be planned so far ahead just seems a bit odd to me.

Honestly, I’d be shocked if they didn’t have their DLC plans laid out for the rest of the year. Charting & testing all of those songs then going through the certification processes for all of the console manufacturers is a lengthy process.
Only Canadian? Bummer, dude.
Well, at least the New Order break’s been made.
Freebies suck IMO.
LOL.
I’ll just get at walmart and use my parents discount card
I’ll get the keyboard bundle for about $10-$20 cheaper!

yeah, i hate getting things for free, too!
I have a good feeling that these songs will also come with the american preorder. Atleast I hope they do. I love Burning down the house
This would be awesome, but I work at Best Buy now so I can probably preorder the keyboard bundle with a nice $10-20 employee discount.
OMG!
i have been waiting for more talking heads and new order for a while, but i am from scotland…..
so my guess on this is that there will be track packs for each of these artists, and its just a case that they get a code for some of these “dlc” that have already been released

Considering every other promotional RB song offer has seen those songs released on the music store, I wouldn’t be too worried.
Here’s a horrifying thought: What if a Gamestop purchase is the ONLY way to get these three songs, free or otherwise? That would suck immensely. I prefer to buy stuff from retailers who deserve to stay in business.

I can’t agree more. LOL

I think the chance of that happening is pretty close to zilch. If nothing else, everyone would get all up in their grill, and they would release it anyway.
Finally some New Order! And I’m all over the Deftones as well.
I do agree that it retailer specific preorder bonuses suck though. Given HMX’s past I’m sure we’ll see these as DLC available to everyone sometime down the line (see: Harmonix pack 01).
i would rather them be free like this… and let us Wii people pay for them down the road…because free in the rbstore = no show for Wii
Looking forward to rocking some blue monday.
