Why Don’t You Play a Real Instru… Oh.
This is very cool. I have heard for awhile now rumblings around the web of companies trying convert/tweak real instruments so they are playable in Rock Band and Guitar Hero. Here is a an interesting product that looks to modify a real drumset into a playable controller for Rock Band. It’s called the Omega GM-1 system, and can be installed on most standard drum sets. Light rolls and hard hits are tracked via the included hardware. There are even attachments for the cymbals to convert them into a electronic cymbal (much like the Mad Catz cymbal add-ons).
Check out a full video of the Omega GM-1 system in action after the break…
The retail price is somewhat expensive at $249.00, and obviously doesn’t include a drum set, only what you see above. I’m a guitarist at heart, so a set of IONS is about the most I would probably ever commit to for playing Rock Band. But for someone looking to play real drums after mastering Rock Band, this might be just what you have been looking for. For more info or to order yourself a set, check out their site here.

Too much. I love drums. My entire tax return is going to go to paying off a drum set and get the ION pro set with expansion to make it a real drum set. I still wouldn’t pay that much for that little bit of plastic and wiring.
