The Who: Rock Band – Sooner Than We Thought?
Just caught wind of this posting over at HMV.com, the large UK music/video/game retailer, for a listing of The Who: Rock Band (look quick, I’m sure it’ll be pulled down quickly down already, but you can still see it in the search bar if you type in any combo of who, rock, and band). No release date, but it’s listed as Coming Soon. Not sure what they know that many of us do not, but to be this brazen to put an item listing up for an as yet unconfirmed item is pretty shocking. I mean, we already know that Roger Daltrey has been talking about it, but are we going to see this soon? My gut is telling me that this will be similar to the AC/DC Live pack, especially considering The Who tracks that have already been released, as opposed to a more Beatles: Rock Band approach.
UPDATE: Received quick word back from John Drake in PR at Harmonix to the question “Was this just inadvertently confirmed.” His response: “Nope.”
What say you? Are we going to be seeing The Who: Rock Band… and possibly fairly soon?

Personally, I hope not. They’ve already released several songs on Rock Band as DLC, as you said. Honestly, they’ve released all of the songs I know by The Who. I’ve never looked into them that deeply. I personally wouldn’t buy an entire game about them like The Beatles: Rock Band. I would, however, think about getting a live track pack game, or even more DLC by them depending on what songs there were.
God I hope not. I mean I’m as much a fan of The Who as anybody, but the last thing I need is more disc swapping. If it’s all exportable to RB2, then sure. Otherwise, no thanks.
Rock Band: Led Zeppelin or Rock Band: Pink Floyd would be a little more acceptable, just due to size and popularity of catalog.
Oh God forbid you have to change a disk.
They’d probably be exportable anyway, seeing as we have some songs in RB. But we haven’t even touched some of the best Who songs, let alone half of the catalog. Either way, anything would be amazing.
Uhh… i wouldn’t trust HMV all that much for information. Especially when it comes to games, they don’t seem all that clued up at all.
Not for me, I love the Who but let’s keep to DLC. Although I do want U2 RB.
I will say it again…Pink Floyd do NOT warrant their own game. All of the stuff before Dark Side (excepting “meddle”) and everything after the Wall are not that loved. DLC from that era, absolutely.

I agree with you on EVERY point. There’s already DLC from The Who, so let’s keep them to DLC or a small, exportable pack. Alot of people hate on U2, but I really like them, but the Beatles (in my opinion) are the only band capable of getting away with the “walled garden” approach to importing/exporting. And I know I’m in the majority, but I think Pink Floyd was overrated. I was never able to fully appreciate them.
I’m all for this, it would awesome if they setup venues, avatars of the who and kinda go through their career (ala the beatles) and you ca export the songs I’m all for it.
I think U2 warrants their own game simply due to the massive amounts of good tunes. Just try to pick only 10 or 12 even for a big DLC pack. And even their “lesser” albums are still fantastic.
The big reason I would support a standalone U2 is for the visuals. It would be awesome to see recreations of Zoo TV, Popmart, and the current 360 stage sets. Epic.
